Leaving Vault 13 by EthicallyChallenged Leaving Vault 13 by EthicallyChallenged
I have play a humongous number of games. I have played many great games. Whenever I play an exceptional game, I tend to paint some sort of fan art. However, there is a game so good, that I was always reluctant to pay proper respects to its grandeur, since I thought my skill was not sufficient to do it justice. Recently I was able to finally run Fallout on my current machine without any graphical glitches and played it again, after a very long break. I decided to finally take that step. The choice of scene was easy. That very first moment, when you step outside Vault 13, clutching your 10mm pistol and a knife. The massive door slams behind you, and all of a sudden it's just you and the harsh, unforgiving, deadly world of the wasteland, with your first enemies skulking in the dark, waiting to attack. You take one last look over your shoulder and begin the magnificent adventure, the greatest RPG of all time that has never been surpassed in any aspect since its publication. Fallout, your name is perfection. I will love you forever. <3

The dystopia in Fallout may well be our future if we are not careful.

What about the companions you meet in this game? Dogmeat Ian, Tycho Katja. The last three lack of exposure in the the fandom really bums me out.

What a coincidence - I've started pottering around with Fallout 3 & 4 on my Xboxes and you've captured the creepy retro-futuristic atmosphere of those games.

I don't like talking about anything that came out after Fallout 2. I've been pretending those newer games don't exist ever since I played F3. Life's easier that way :)

Never played the game, but this piece makes it all the more enticing. Very well done! I've always thought you put out some really accurate work. This is slightly a different style and among your best work, in my humble opinion. Keep it up.

You work for Creative Assembly. Your art is some of the best I have ever seen. And yet you say you didn't feel like your skill was good enough? That's kind of hilarious to me, but at the same time I can respect that. Great piece of art, as always :D

Yeah, I've always felt that way. My art always seems much worse than the pieces I like created by other people. But I don't beat myself over it and use that feeling as fuel for my efforts to work and improve. Reading comments like yours helps me believe in myself a little bit more, so thank you! :)

The Fallout series  is undeniably one of the best video game series. Great work with this!

The picture perfectly translates the mood of that very moment - the guy taking the last look at the doors behind him before venturing into the darkness ahead. Love it (even if FO2 is actually closer to the perfection, in my head...)!

Couldn't have said it better and your fanart is on point.

Most Fallout fanart is riddled with references to make it look more fallout-ish,
but you manage to capture the game's atmosphere and essence with just one powerful image.

And who can forget that line when you return at the end.

"I'm sorry. You're a hero... and you have to leave."
