The lance should be even longer. Because he is shock cavalry. If he is shock then he should be a bigger man. Have you seen Mongolian wrestlers bro they are huge. Iran has big wrestlers too. Omg imagine two cataphracts going to charge at each other.

Agreed. Last I checked, the lance was a good 8-12' long! And the Mongols were definitely bigass mofos, thick-waisted and strong, almost Polynesian-like IMOHO...

I have to agree with you on this one. I made a mistake painting the horse too big.

Yes, our horses are much smaller than those of european and abarian linage due to harsh nature.

so basically, the Mongols were an "extension" of the Assyrian empire?

frm what I read, the Mongols used EVERYTHING the Assyrian empire used, from the pointed helmets, right down to the psychological warfare tactics.

mongols were not a nomadic people similar to the assyrians, but they were not in anyway related to them, they were very distant in both time and location.

yes, my theory is that they learned these tactics from the Persian people who learned it from the Assyrians.

because upon reading both Mongol and Assyrian tactics of warfare, they have EXTREMELY similar tactics. The difference is that the Mongols added their own flavours into the mix.

The Mongols had no contact with the Persian people in large amounts, maybe a few of the far western steppe tribes, but the Mongols, if they took on any tactics, learned them from the Chinese

Actually it is other way, they copied much tactics and strategy from us, and if you read *our* history there were so much chinese genocidal campaign against nomadic northern people and our tactic and such evolved from that as well as infighting between tribes.

it still could be possible, considering that the Wheel was invented by the ancient Mesopotamians and it spread everywhere to the point where every civilization had basic wheels.

excellent work.  I need an artist to do a book cover illustration, and this is the kind of thing I have in mind.  I have a couple hundred dollars to devote to this.  Please contact me skemerson@spamcop.net.

Most mongols wore leather lamellar though (maybe one in four pieces was iron).

I love it how the Persian is actually attempting to parry the lance instead of the generic charge image! It immensely adds to the realism of the picture.

hey - as illustretion this is cool, perhaps too cool - it is really sunny in the Central Asia, and metal plates on the horse armour were very shiny, so as per historical aspect of this piece there are many many mistakes - they should have given you Gorelik's work to look at. But there is lots of potential in your historical art, you need better editors - so keep going, man. :)

Kilka konkretnych spostrzen dodatkowo:
Innymi slowy - brak kontekstu.
