The looting of Panama

Captain Morgan supervises the procession of pirates carrying loot form Panama. Piracy was rampant in the  XVII century Caribbean. The goods considered most valuable by pirates were various forms of intellectual property. Copies of books were highly sought after, as well as music in form of pages of notes and theatrical screenplays. In the illustration we can see a Spanish noblewoman complaining to Cpt. Morgan that there are not enough farmers producing food (called seeders at the time) left in Panama and too many Dominican monks contributing nothing and eating said food (according to my sources, the woman insulted the monks by calling them "leechers").
