So I went out to the cinema tonight to see what all the buzz is about. The movie is astonishing. I loved everything, and not just because I'm a child of the 80s. The script, the characters, the pictures, the music, the FX, NIXON(!!!), everything rocks. Moreover, by applying my foolproof formula, according to which awesomeness of a movie based on a book or graphic novel divided by two or more equals the awesomeness of the said book or graphic novel I have concluded that I'll read this thing as soon as I can even if it's the last thing I do. Should prove easy seeing that every bookstore is filled with watchmen merchandise. Pffff, capitalism.

Interesting - you've given me hope for audience members who haven't read it first!

A bunch of our friends and we went to see it last night. Some of us knew the story already and some didn't. Pretty much across the board, those of us who'd already read it loved it like mad, and those who hadn't were more like "Meh... I got lost."

I do recommend, when you read the GN, be aware that it consists of three concurrent storylines. It can make the story a bit rough to get through at times, and it may actually be easier to pick just one of them at a time and just read that one all the way through, then go back and catch the others in the same way. They all relate to each other and lend depth to the overall story, so they are all worth reading. I just wanted to give you the heads-up. ;D
